     The Wheelchair Foundation of Barbados Inc. was launched at the Garfield Sobers Sports Complex on Saturday 12th March 2005. Its primary objective and purpose is the provision of wheelchairs and other aids for those in need in Barbados to facilitate their mobility and functionality. The Wheelchair Foundation of Barbados Inc. was incorporated under the Companies Act of Barbados on 25th February, 2005.

     

    The Foundation has no authorised share capital and its business is carried out without pecuniary gain to its members. Any profit or other accretions to its assets are used to further its undertaking. The Foundation will not engage itself in any undertaking that will disqualify it from being a nonprofit organisation within the meaning of the Companies Act, Chapter 308 of the Laws of Barbados. The Foundation was established for charitable purposes and, in particular, for the support of needy persons with disabilities.

     

    The authorised number of Directors of the Foundation is not less than three and not more than fifteen as the Board of Directors may direct. The business and affairs of the Foundation are managed, and all corporate powers executed, by or under the direction of the Board of Directors.
